To get a boat licence in NSW, you will need to demonstrate practical experience and pass the Theory Knowledge test. This course will cover the practical component only. Once you finish this course you will need to pass the theory knowledge test at Service NSW and then present it with the paperwork we give you to Service NSW to qualify for a NSW General Boat Licence (GBL).

The paperwork we give you at the end of your course is to certify you have completed the practical component only. You will also need to pass your Theory Knowledge test at service NSW. If you did a boating course with another provider who doesn’t offer practical experience, you can also do this course with us to complete your course for a boat or PWC licence.

Once complete, you will now be able to drive any recreational vessel in NSW. You can also use your NSW issued licence to operate recreational vessels in other states and territories, in the same way you can use your drivers licence in other states and territories.

In the practical component of your course, you will learn the basics of safety on a vessel, how to operate a vessel and the parts of a boat. Our trainers will go through a series of tasks with you that include slow speed manoeuvres, Man Overboard (MOB) simulations, high speed manoeuvres and group activities such as beaching, anchoring and mooring a vessel.
