Find quick answers to some of the most common questions about EZ Boating, our services, and how we make your time on the water stress-free.


What time does the course start?

Our courses normally start between 7 and 8am and finish by 5pm. However, you may have an earlier/later start or an earlier/later finish, depending on class size and other factors.

Do I need to do the test at Service NSW?

If you complete the full course with us, you don’t need to do any tests at Service NSW. Just take the paperwork we give you at the end of the day and present it at any Service NSW Centre and you can get a licence on the spot.

Do I have to go out 3 separate times to do my practical component for the licence?

If you do your practical with us, you will only need to go out once. We will teach you everything you need to know to drive a boat and ensure you are confident and competent. If you decide to do your practical via a logbook, that is when you will need to do 3 separate trips with someone who has held a boat licence for more than 3 years.

How old can I be to get a boat/let ski licence?

Anyone as young as 12 years of age can get a NSW General Boat Licence or a PWC Licence. You can also do the course if you are 11 and going to turn 12 within the next 12 months of the course date.

I’ve never driven a boat, do I need to have experience?

Our courses are designed for people who have no experience at all on the water. We cater for all ages and abilities with our modern vessel to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable. Our trainers will ensure you are comfortable and competent when learngin to drive a boat.

Is there a practical component for the Jet ski licence?

No. To get a Jet Ski licence, you will do the normal Boating Course and then an extra training theory session with a test for the Jet Ski component.

Do I have to study before attending the course?

We recommend you have a skim through the SNSW website about rules and regulations. You can also read the NSW Boating Handbook and do the practice test before coming in to your course. If you don’t do any of the above, that’s ok! Our course instructors will teach you everything on the day to ensure you safely enjoy our waterways and confidently pass the test.
